We have had many discussions as a group to decide on locations. We have decided on the park as we are showing flashbacks so the actors need to look younger and as children so the park is a good place to show that they are young people. We have chosen to film in the park on the swings to show young children having fun. Also we chose the flower fields to show the girls having fun running around like most children do.
We then chose to use St. Osburgs church hall as it is a empty hall which we can added props to which will make it look however we want it to. The empty space gives our group the chance to film lots of scenes in there without it looking as if we have shot this in the same place. This is a useful location that my group thinks will be perfect for our horror trailer.

Filming in St. Osburgs
As a group we are continuing to film our trailer. Now we are beginning to film more scenes we are getting really confident using the camera and beginning editing has helped us to see how it will look as the finished product. From these reasons we decided to film lots more of our scenes and have filmed the more difficult ones.
To begin we used two big wooden doors and have asked our actress to walk towards them giving the impression to the audience that she is walking through a corridor. This will be the corridor leading to the mental patients hospitals room.
We have filmed our actress on a wooden white chair in the center of a room. This gives the impression that she is in a mental hospital, also the white chair looks quite old which is when our film is set. For this it was filmed directly in front of her and it was a long angle shot.
Then we filmed the girl sitting on the floor rocking as she begins to look a bit agitated. We have filmed this as we want to show the girl looking as if she is remembering something before we show the flashback of the two girls swinging.
We then filmed the girl on the floor rocking on the floor in bigger movements as she is crying and looking very upset. This was filmed from a high angle and it showed the girls emotions look more expressive.
Filming the house scene was quite challenging as we had to set up the stage we used to make look like a abandoned home and then we had to show the girl running through it appearing to look as if she remembers it as her old childhood home. We started to show the empty room and then the girl ran in looking very upset to see her house abandoned. The actress started to pick things up like the chairs and papers of the floor. We did this to show the girl still cares about her family and their possesions.
Towards the end of that scene we showed the girl walking towards a old fashioned mirror. Right at the start of the next scene it shows the girl looking in the mirror by herself as if she used to do this as a child. In the next scene suddenly the girl from the swings in the flashback who is the girls sister comes in the mirror behind her. We filmed this as an over the shoulder shot of the girl but so you cannot see the sister outside of the mirror but only her reflection. Finally we filmed the girl in the mirror by herself again but looking behind her seeing if the sister is there but she is not as she has disappeared.

First Draft Trailer
First Draft Media Trailer from Amy Walmsley on Vimeo.
This is our first time at attempting to make a trailer for a horror film. We started by filming using a camera and a tripod. Our location was a small area surrounded in trees. We thought that this would look quite scary as their appears to be no escape. Also it was dark and enclosed.
We asked our actress to run around this forest like area looking to get more violent as the trailer progresses. At the start she would look happy running around whilst skipping and having fun but then she suddenly slows down a bit and starts to look more confused and scared. Finally as it is coming to a climax she would scream into the camera.
As it was our first draft we decided to make the costume simple and use no make up to show the girl is mental and does not care about her appearance. Her hair was long and flowing because as the trailer starts she appears to be happy so we wanted her hair to be swaying so it symbolises the girls freedom.
When we were editing our first attempt we decided to put a olden time effect on top of the footage. We have chosen to do this as we want the film to be set in the past and also the black and white will make it appear more spooky like horror films already made.
We decided not to use speech in the trailer as text over the top of the film would make it more unique and it would explain the footage without the need to hear the girl speaking. For the text over the film we made the background white and the text a dark purple. This makes it more chilling as we have seen in other horror film trailers the way the text comes across the film looks even more scary.
We have placed the title of the film at the end of the trailer so it will be the last thing people will remember about it and also if we put the title of the film at the start it may give away some of the mystery's happening in the film.
We did not use any sound effects over the top of the trailer as we just wanted the sound of the girl playing and then turing into roars at the end. This shows more of a realistic sound in the film which will make it seem even more horroric as you will think it is real.
We added the words 'What would you do if everything you knew' right at the start of the trailer and then we added nearer the middle of the trailer the words 'was a lie'. This made the audience understand some of what is happening to the girl as it shows that she is very confused and is angry.
As the woman is running around in a forest turning angry as the trailer goes on. This gives the trailer more suspense and as the trailer progresses it gets faster so the audience will become more scared and feel more apprehensive.

Deciding on the final clips used
Before we began editing the trailer we needed to look back on all the clips that we had filmed and we had to decide upon the best ones.
The first clip we decided to look at was the white dress girl in the mental home siting in the corner rocking. She was very upset after just seeing her sister being killed and we wanted to show her emotions. In this scene it was the same costume but we had different hair and makeup to what we have chosen to do in the end. The hair was in pigtails and the makeup was over the top as the girls face drouned in talcen powder to make her look very pale.

My Final Poster
This is my Final Poster but as a group we pick the best one so this one may not be used. There are some things about this poster in which i think looks good and professional but there are some things that i could improve.
For the title of the film i have made it stand out by using white and in the middle small patches of black. One of the most important parts of the poster really comes out. I have used a bold font called Garamond Premier Pro and i have used different blending options to make it stand out. I have used an inner and outer glow and i have used the effects satin and stroke. Using these things on Photo shop allows me to make the title appear more effective to my target audience.
Then i have placed my tag line at the top of the page as it is important and i want people to be able to see it clearly. I have also used effects on the tag line as it will make it stand out as well as the title does. I have used the effects of bevel and emboss and i have used a gradient overlay along with a stroke.
This is my poster with some more text on which i have added recently in order to make it look more professional.
I have placed the title at the bottom of the page as i wanted to place it in the girls hair so that the black and white will contrast bringing the title and the white text below to really stand out.
The white text below says all the people involved in the making of the film. This font size is only 18 which does look very small when it is printed out.

This is my final poster picture where i have finshed cropping the image around the arm and i have added the three names to the poster which are my group and the main actress is in the middle. I think that the end poster is quite chilling as the girl is screaming and the audience will want to know what is wrong with her. Also the red in the tagline lets the audience know that this is a horrror film and the red could have connotations of death and violence.

First time Editing
After filming we went to the media suite where we began editing our video clips for our trailer. To begin we went on the software i movie to begin to edit some practice clips. We looked at how to make the clip shorter and how to cut our bits that we didnt like. We tried to make two different clips fit together to make one clip so that it would look like a continuous film clip not like two completly separate clips.
Whilst on i movie we were able to look at different effects you can have aswell as just your movie footage. We learnt how to put transitions in through the clip and we were also able to put sound over the top of the clip.
After we had done some practice editing, we looked at all the clips we had took so far of our horror film and we decided which ones we would use and what we could do to them on the editing softwware to make them more scary. We decided to use the clip of the two girls on the swings as a flashback and we would make this black and white. We then would have the scene where the girl is being murdered which we will have very scary music over the top which creates alot of tension. We do have another flashback of the girls playing in the fields but this was a bit too long so we will shorten it to make it a very quick flashback.
