Sound

At this stage of the process of the trailer we have decided to finalise the sounds we will have in our trailer.
We have decided to have a voice over throughout our horror trailer. We have decided this as our trailer is a psychological horror so it may be hard for the audience to really understand. This voice over should explain moments in the trailer that maybe confusing. The voice over is a man who we think will sound like the doctor of the mental patient trying to explain the girls mental state.

This is the script for our voice over.
' She hasn't moved for hours.. she just sits there.. Staring..
Now that she has escaped no one is safe...'

One of these two lines of voice over will be over the scene where the patient is sitting in the chair in the mental home staring directly through the camera.

The sounds are important in a horror film to make it even more scary and keep the audience on edge. As a group we tried to come up with scary sounds to make our audience scared.
On the corridor scene we are going to have a soft piano noise played very slowly. Then we have recorded a voice saying that she is being locked away. This should help the audience see that she is in a mental institution.
Then for our house scene we will have a piano being played which is quite normally so that it seems like a more homely feel to make the audience see that this is a reminiscing moment for the character.

At the poppy field scene and for the swing scene we will have some small children singing ring a ring a roses. This will make the audience see that they are children and that it is a flashback. For this sound i have slowed the voices down very slightly so that it sounds more scary and disturbing.

When both characters are on the swings a wind sound will be played and then when the character appears to be gone and then another character appears behind the innocent girl we will have sounds of whispers saying 'shes behind you'.

When we zoom into the wanted poster of the mental patient we will have a voice over sound of a doctor stating 'now she has escaped no one is safe'   This will make the audience fear for the lives of the rest of the people in the other scenes and also it will show them that she is an unstable and disturbed character.
Using the software garage band we were able to create a soft piano sound rather than have all different pianos recorded at different times. We saved this sound and we have added it to some of our clips in our trailer. We decided to play this sound when the girl is holding onto the patient sign to the start of our swing scene where we will play ring a ring a roses. As our group liked this sound so much we added it onto some more of our clips. It now plays on our 'house scene', the 'wanted scene' and it goes onto the 'final doctor scene'. This sound is very effective and it sounds very chilling which goes well with our genre.

Also we have recorded the sound of our tag line at the pan at end of our trailer. We recorded all of our group members all saying a word each. So said 'look' and 'mist' and my other team member said 'dont' and 'the' and finally my other group member said 'into'. A group member came up with this idea to show lots of different people saying this as it shows that the girl in our trailer has hurt many people and all of her victims are saying 'dont look in the mist' meaning don't go near her as she is dangerous.
At the end of our tag line we have a girl whisper 'she will come for you' showing that if you look for her she will be there to hurt you. Our actress filmed this as it is like she is saying at the end she is coming for you which is very scary. She is whispering as that is more frightening and also as we have shown she is a wanted person it may show that she is hiding. Also as we are having this line at the end of our trailer in our pan of an empty field you can hear she will come for you. After this line the girl will suddenly come up on screen and give a loud scream. Hopefully this will frighten our audience's.

Also during the girl about to hit the girl with the crow bar we have added the sound of whispers saying 'shes behind you' this will make the audience get more involved in the trailer as they will be wanted the girl to turn around, this will keep our audience interested. Also for the bridge scene we have added a recorded loud wind sound. As she appears to be heading somewhere the wind shows that no one is around so she is heading for a specific person. As we find out in the next clip it appears to be her child hood friend.

Finally at the end of our trailer where the title and date is shown we have added the sound of humming of the song ring a ring a roses. We found this partiuculary chilling as she has just killed someone who she used to sing this song with.
For the sounds my group member's recorded them and i added them onto clips and edited them for example i had to make some shorter so they would fit the length of our clips.
